Kelso Cartography | Portfolio | HSU – China & Tibet Fieldwork | Rammed Earth Wall
Rammed earth building techniques are well suited to the semi-arid environment around Repkong. It took these workers around 3 hours to complete each half-section of wall. The earth is shoveled up to the form and the two individuals on the wall pound the loose soil into a compact unit. The form is moved upwards till the section is complete.
